Yasir is the Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre, and was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Emergency Preparedness and President of the King’s Privy Council prior to stepping down to pursue this leadership bid. Prior to entering federal politics, Yasir was the Member of Provincial Parliament for Ottawa Centre and the former Attorney General of Ontario. He has also held several other Cabinet portfolios provincially, including the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Government House Leader, and Minister of Labour.
